Associate - Microbiology & Molecular Technologies Operations

Seres Therapeutics is well-positioned to become the first company to bring an approved microbiome drug to patients through our proprietary discovery and design platform. We identify key alterations in the microbiome that are associated with specific diseases, and design live bacterial ecologies to act as therapeutics. We are conducting multiple clinical trials including a recently started Phase III study. Seres is a dynamic and well-financed biotechnology company headquartered in Cambridge, MA.

What’s in it for you?

This is an incredibly exciting opportunity for anyone looking to make a meaningful impact in the development of Microbiome Therapeutics while working on teams of talented and enthusiastic scientists.

In this hybrid role, you will have responsibilities with both the Molecular Technologies and Microbiology groups and interact with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. You will further Molecular Technologies’ research activities by managing external sequencing and metabolomics vendor relationships, communications, key activities, and deliverables as they relate to our preclinical and clinical programs. You will also be responsible for internal coordination and communication timelines as they relate to the progress of projects that require external vendor involvement. For Microbiology, responsibilities will include developing and performing SOP-driven pipeline assays for characterization of microorganisms, assisting in optimization of microbiology platforms to improve throughput and data collection, and build out of the strain collection.

How do you know if you’re the right fit?

You are someone who enjoys playing an important role in furthering our preclinical pipeline, as well as, moving our clinical programs forward. You are able to effectively communicate including asking key questions in order to minimize project risks and ensure deliverables. Your ability to be the point contact for many internal groups and prioritize effectively is key in this position. Someone with a high level of organization and attention to detail would excel and grow in this role, and an interest or experience in the project management lifecycle is a plus. You should also have experience with bacterial cultivation and execution of microbiological assays (i.e. CFU assays, MICs, phenotypic characterization), and experience with anaerobic microbiology and/or fermentation experience is a plus.

This is truly a dynamic role which would expose the chosen individual to R&D, CMC and Clinical teams within Seres and to all of our current drug discovery programs. Our overall focus is to find an adaptive individual who can deliver results under pressure and communicate and prioritize effectively, as shifting needs are common in our fast-paced company.

Qualified candidates should have a BS degree in biochemistry, microbiology, or related field with 2-3 years of experience in laboratory research, vendor or client management, and/or project coordination. You will demonstrate strong organizational and interpersonal skills and experience building relationships with effective communication, influencing, problem solving with a keen attention to detail, and derive satisfaction from finding new ways to make things work more smoothly.
